American politics at their finest

Harsh advertisements and negative attacks are a staple of presidential campaigns, but Senator John McCain has drawn an avalanche of criticism this week from Democrats, independent groups and even some Republicans for regularly stretching the truth in attacking Senator Barack Obama's record and positions.

Mr. Obama has also been accused of distortions, but this week Mr. McCain has found himself under particularly heavy fire for a pair of headline-grabbing attacks. First the McCain campaign twisted Mr. Obama's words to suggest that he had compared Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, to a pig after Mr. Obama said, in questioning Mr. McCain's claim to be the change agent in the race, "You can put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig."? (Mr. McCain once used the same expression to describe Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's health plan.) ....

Mr. Obama's hands have not always been clean in this regard. He was called out earlier for saying, incorrectly, that Mr. McCain supported a "hundred-year war"? in Iraq after Mr. McCain said in January that he would be fine with a hypothetical 100-year American presence in Iraq, as long as Americans were not being injured or killed there.

More recently, Mr. Obama has been criticized for advertisements that have distorted Mr. McCain's record on schools financing and incorrectly accused him of not supporting loan guarantees for the auto industry "? a hot topic in Michigan. He has also taken Mr. McCain's repeated comments that American economy is "fundamentally sound"? out of context, leaving out the fact that Mr. McCain almost always adds at the same time that he understands that times are tough and "people are hurting."?

I don't think B. HUSSEIN was comparing Palin to a pig but the remark was directed at her. Actually if you put lipstick on a pig it would be a gay B. HUSSEIN.

B. HUSSEIN has tried to link McCain to the "failed Bush energy policy" and attacked tax breaks given to the oil companies. In reality McCain voted against the tax breaks and B. HUSSEIN voted FOR them.

B. HUSSEIN still refuses to admit the surge worked. He was dead wrong but will not admit it. He was willing to surrender. The surge was in the best interest of this country and our troops and he will not admit that McCain was right. Becoming President was more important to him than winning the war. He also said he voted against the war and that is another lie. He was not even in office at the time. Probably out organizing communities I suppose.

B. HUSSEIN has spoken about "values" and "morals" but he supported sex education classes for kindergarten children. Of course he tried to defend it by making up excuses for such a stupid idea, but that was ridiculous . If he is so worried about children why does he want them to be killed before they are born?

B. HUSSEIN wants us to believe he has the experience and the good judgement to be President. Judgement?? He made the decision on his VP selection. Used his "judgement". If we are fortunate enough for him to lose this election he can look back on his "judgement" as the reason.

B. HUSSEIN and the dems keep saying we are in a "recession". Truth is we are not. It is a soft economy and thisng are not great, but it is not a recession as long as there is growth. Before he can promise to change the economy maybe he should learn more about it first.

I have been on the road for a few days. But the last report I heard had Iraq controlling 13 of 18 provinces with people actually feeling safe enough to walk the streets of Baghdad again. The surge is the reason troops will begin leaving without replacements. Even B. HUSSEIN admitted the surge worked. He just refuses to admit he was wrong to oppose it.

It worked to a degree...but if you think the surge healed sectarian differences in Iraq, think again. The place will never be stable...and securing a lil over 2/3 of a country in 5 years isn't much to crow about...really, think about it.

To a degree ???????????????
No wonder you are such a B. HUSSEIN man.
IT WORKED. PERIOD.Everybody wanted our troops home and now that will happen because McCain had the judgement and the nerve to stand, often alone, and push the surge. Even the "man" you seem to worship admitted it worked.

Making a quick and hasty pullout of Iraq was / is without a doubt the dumbest position taken by the Democrats.

Maybe we shouldn't have been there? Maybe misinformation was used to get us there? But...a quick pullout = victory for our enemy's in their eyes and further and progressed attacks would be a certain result.

There is no way any of us can predict what a terrorist will do. They say they also want us out of Iraq but their attacks are what have kept us there for so long.

I'm thinking we need to pay up front for all the screwing around in other countries. Maybe this would make it easier to understand for some folks. WE CAN'T AFFORD IT.
